Landmark Tower in Yokohama

Landmark Tower, Yokohama
I hurriedly left my Nihongo class after it was finished, I didn't even have a chat with my classmates because my husband sent me e-mail that he was already waiting for me outside the building. We would be meeting his former co-worker in YokohamaJapan's second largest city and the capital of Kanagawa prefecture. at 7pm. We took the train to Yokohama station and went inside Sogo Department Store. We were browsing the boutiques and shops and didn't notice the time so we had been late for a few minutes in meeting his former co-worker.

We got on the train again to go to SakuraRefers to both ornamental cherry trees and their blossoms. -gicho station. We met them and had dinner at a restaurant in Landmark Plaza where different kinds of shops and restaurants can be found. After dinner we decided to climb Landmark Tower, the second highest tower in Japan (the highest is Tokyo Tower). Landmark Tower has a height of 296m while Tokyo Tower is 333m.

We went to the reception area and bought tickets for 1000 yen each. I was impressed by the egg-shaped elevator which is designed in order to avoid wind pressure and it is said to be the fastest elevator in Japan, that has a speed of 750 m/min. We reached the 69th floor, which is the top floor, where there is a Sky Garden, which is considered to be the highest observatory in Japan and is the size of 5 tennis courts. From there, we could see a 360 degree panoramic view of points up to 80 km away, from Metropolitan Government to Izu-Oshima. It was a wonderful experience to reach the sky and see prolific views below, through this skyscraper of Yokohama. There is also a Sky Cafe which serves soft drinks, beer, cocktails, light meals, etc. When we came down, we passed the Yokohama souvenir Tower shop where according to what I learned, 600 items of original goods are sold.

It is nice to meet old friends and reminisce about the past while viewing an impressive panorama.
